The living room is the centre of the house, where the family gathers and guests are received. It has to work day to day, and it has to show how the owner wants to live.

This scheme uses a low palette of grey, black and deep brown, lifted by warm light and beige upholstery. The television wall, display cabinets, coffee table and lighting are drawn as one composition.

Grey, black and brown set the tone. Warm lamps and pale furniture keep the room from feeling cold. Dark cabinetry gives the wall depth; a marble panel with cloud veining is the quiet focal point, without extra ornament.

The layout leaves clear routes through the room, so the formality of the materials does not get in the way of sitting, talking and watching television together.
